The Detail: 22-26 September 2021, Fashion District hosted the first Fashion District Festival, a five-day celebration of sustainability and innovation located in and around Stratford. Shoppers, start-ups, and emerging talent could buy, learn and network with pop-up stores, styling sessions, a vintage market, workshops, events, and installations.

The Brief: to build a marketing strategy for the inaugural festival, promoting it as London’s innovation-led fashion festival. Create a strong identity and tone of voice for the brand. Devise a digital and OOH campaign, including social media adverts, OOH imagery, website development, and emails.

The Idea: decide what the Festival stands for, what events will be hosted, and what the key takeaway messages should be.  By researching this we could work out the best way to sell the festival to consumers, using the most appropriate colours, fonts, and imagery.  We also laid out a multi-faceted marketing plan, covering all bases to ensure the best results. We devised a schedule detailing activations for each month in the lead-up to the festival, using the content pillars of MAKE, GROW, WATCH & SHOP.  These content pillars highlighted the different elements that made up the festival – Workshops, business talks, fashion shows, and shopping and were released at the right time to gain the most interest and create the best impact.

The first Fashion District Festival was a real success, an explosion of creativity, celebrating emerging designers and start-ups from around London, and showcasing sustainability and innovation within the industry. The brand identity, logo, and four pillars we produced on behalf of the Fashion District; MAKE, GROW, WATCH & SHOP, all contributed to producing a dynamic and excitement-filled week, perfect for fashion lovers, conscious consumers, and the Fashion District community.

The colours and brand identity created by Garden State London, have since been rolled out and used in further activities for the Fashion District after the festival ended.
