Freelance Social Media Manager, Retail and Placemaking

London | Freelance, 3 days a week | Initial 3 month contract, then flexible | Start end of October.  London / Hybrid – at least one day in King’s Cross office a week.

About the role

Join our content team at Garden State London. We work with some of London’s best-known places across retail, placemaking and hospitality, and no two weeks look the same, from new openings to seasonal campaigns.

You’ll lead social day to day on two of our central London estate clients. You’ll own the plan, run client meetings and make sure everything that goes out is right. You’ll direct our videographer and social assistants. You’ll report to our Director of Strategy and Content and work closely with our videographers, designers and account team.

What you’ll do

  • Plan monthly content and manage the schedules, directing our social assistants
  • Lead client meetings and present plans and results
  • Stay on top of the account: deadlines, approvals and what’s coming up on each estate
  • Write and edit copy that fits each brand’s tone of voice
  • Brief our videographer on each film idea and what it needs to do, and plan shoot days to get the most out of them
  • Review every edit and give clear creative feedback so each film works for the client
  • Make sure all content is on brand and meets brand guidelines
  • Put together monthly reports and pull out what’s working
  • Keep an eye on trends and bring new ideas to the team

What we’re looking for

  • Minimum 5 years’ social media experience across retail, agency or brand
  • Confident with clients and comfortable running meetings with lots of stakeholders
  • A strong visual and cultural eye: you know what’s happening in London food, retail, fashion and culture
  • Experience briefing videographers and giving creative feedback on edits
  • Great writing and editing skills
  • Highly organised and able to manage busy content calendars across more than one account
  • A strong understanding of Instagram and TikTok, including formats, trends and how the algorithms work
  • Experience directing junior team members
  • Based in London, at least 1 day a week in our King’s Cross office
  • Experience in retail, placemaking or hospitality is a bonus

Why join us

  • Work on some of the most exciting places in London
  • See your work across retail, food, culture and events
  • Be part of a small, close team where your ideas get heard and make it onto the channel
  • Work with a wider network of designers, copywriters and PR partners
