The Brief: develop a community plan for West Brompton Crossing, a new meanwhile high street in Earls Court, to include a digital strategy, pop-up community shop, and events, in order to create a vibrant and lively place that serves the local community and attracts new visitors to the area.

The Idea: in order to align with the brand values of creating an area that feels neighbourly, inclusive, and vibrant, we devised a strong digital strategy and brand identity to communicate with and draw people to the area. It was also key to genuinely engage with the local community, so we dedicated retail space for local enterprises, created a local recruitment program for employment opportunities, and partnered with The Prince’s Trust to aid new businesses in London.

Results

Garden State London grew the social media audience from 0-1800 within a year with no paid media budget.

The Crossing, a free pop-up shop that Garden State London devised, created, and subsequently ran, gave more than 50 small and new London businesses the opportunity to trade on a high street for free between 2017-2020.

West Brompton Crossing opened 2017 and was intended to operate until late 2019 while the permanent proposals for the re-development were advanced. However, this innovative temporary shopping street, supporting local small businesses and emerging talent, remains open in 2022. Its success led to Conde Nast Traveller naming it “West London’s Coolest Street”.
